Well, I completely missed January.
I know the rest of the world felt January 2025 was longer than 2024. But for this family it was lightning fast. We hit 2025 off and running. Kids in sports, family vacation, every single Monday but one off for Oside school district, surf clinics, and girls weekend. On top of it all, the world literally caught on fire (literally and figuratively). I would go to sit down to write this blog and have nothing to say; or be without words.
Until today. I have some words to say today. My first thought is What the actual Fuck is happening? I am not one to talk politics, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about the hate and crazy being spewed out of our nation's capital. I worry that our checks and balances will fail. I worry what the next 4 years hold. I worry about history repeating itself, and this whole world as we know it goes to shit.
But, I then switch my mindset. I am fighting for love. I am banking there are more helpers than those who are in it for their own benefit. I am fighting for those who are for the good of all of us and not the individual. I am fighting for people to show love, unity, and grace. Not hate, division, and fear. To quote Lenny Kravitz,we have to let love rule.
Valentine's Day is this week. I am feeling the love. I know it is considered a Hallmark holiday. I know some are skeptical. Love is not always romance. It is kindness. It is humanity. It is a helping hand when you least expect it. It is Galentines. It is framily and your family. It is that warm feeling when you finally feel home. To quote one of my favorite movies ever, "Love is All around."
Things are more complicated than this. I am going to keep it simple and start with love.
