I just kept pushing it off because Summer was so busy.
And here we are f*&$ing Labor Day is here, September is here, and Fall is closing in on us. I meant to come here an express thoughts on Summer, then Father's Day, then 4th of July, and then nothing. Our summer was filled with activities, camps, and other summer fun. We did not go anywhere. We stayed here in Oside all summer. And it was fantastic. Except now I'm ready for local's summer to start. Local's Summer is like my Christmas. It is my FAVORITE time of year.
The water is warm and I can find a parking spot at the pier or the the harbor after 9 am. Long days are still here. I am going to enjoy every last second until those clocks turn back on November 2nd.
So besides the tourists that come to enjoy our city in the summer, which is a good thing for our community and our economy. Especially our small businesses. If you visit Oceanside, please visit our amazing local businesses.
We have amazing local restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and stores. I love them dearly and do my best to visit them as often as I can between the months of September and June. In summer I tend to stay home and enjoy my backyard oasis and walk to where I need to go. I am getting very particular in my middle age. What can I say, I like to be comfortable. Standing in a long ass line for a Bucc Muff on a Sunday morning is not my thing, but Tuesday mornings, I am there! I am happy there is a line, don't get me wrong. I love to see thriving local business.
The City of Oceanside has some amazing summer programs. My kids have participated in the synchronized swimming program the last two summers. It is really something awesome! My kiddos also participated in surf camp at Surfinfire this year. They had a blast! I love Kyla the owner of Surfinfire. She also has a great thing going for women's surfing in the north county. A tried and true camp for us is The Boys and Girls Club of Oceanside (now called Boys and Girls Club of Northwest San Diego). If you are a working parent like me, they have great programs for your kids all summer. I love Friday nights in MLK park for skating. We have so much!
I am so excited for the next 2 months!
I have not been taking as many photos this summer because we have been so busy. I recently Instagram impulse bought a retropia lens. It's a little pancake lens that looks like an Oreo cookie. It has a lens from those disposable cameras. I love pancake lenses! For $40, I wanted to try it. So FUN!! All of the pictures featured on this blog use this lens.
Well... that is all I have for now. I am hoping to be back on my monthly check in schedule. I am working on giving myself more slack. More on that later. See you around Oside!!!
